flax seed oil. gross.
so we are on day 5 of 7 for the 'detox' nutritional diet that the naturopath recommended. i didn't need to do it with john but holy smokes it s-u-c-k-s so really, who'd want to do it alone? and there are other things that i can't do with him later on (parasite cleanse for example) so for now i'll do with him what i can. overloading on healthy oils and vegetables certainly won't hurt me for a week. it may KILL me, but it won't hurt me. (insert various gagging noises here).
flax oil, grapefruit, water, olive oil, lemon, non-starchy vegetables GALORE, water, apples, avocados, water, sunflower seeds, vegetable juice, herbal tea, dates, water, steel cut oatmeal, grapefruit, balsamic vinegar, did i mention water? oh, and more water.
...that's it. 7 days. that's it.
john's down 10 pounds and i'm down 7; not that weight loss was the goal at all (the goal, remember, was to detox from the badness and increase the goodness via decreasing bad bacteria in the blood and increasing good bacteria) but weight loss has happened. i guess that's to be expected when practically everything you put in your body for a week is water based.
the whole list needed for this year is (in no specific order):
-drink half your body weight in oz of water per day
-no soda at all allowed
-pay attention to eating foods that decrease (not increase or cause) inflammation (aka: pain). note: who the heck even knew that some foods increase inflammation in the joints?
-chew food carefully to assist with proper digestion
-fiber to help with acid reflux (which really has nothing to do with the vasculitis but hey, since we're checking under the hood, might as well kick the tires too)
-coated probiotic with strains in the millions to increase healthy bacteria in the blood
-digestive enzymes taken with meals to help with 'leaky gut'
-milk thistle to help liver
-all organ cleanse to decrease bad bacteria in the blood
-candida (yeast)/fungal cleanse to decrease yeast and fungus in the blood
-parasite/bacterial cleanse to decrease parasites and bacteria in his blood
-chelating for six months to help with malabsorption and decrease chemical/metal markers in his blood (after 6 months he's to move to a whole food plant vit/mineral)
-MSM powder moving up slowly to 8,000 mg daily in divided doses for inflammation and pain
-evening primrose oil and cod liver oil with food to reduce inflammation and boost immune system
i have no idea what order we'll be doing these in. we need to make a plan.
what we do know is we will finish the detox mon so tues we will start eating regularly again, ... well. that's not true. we eat like crap sometimes. we will be eating more healthily on a regular basis. we've agreed to that. we'll see what happens about the timing of the rest. i've ordered it all. it's been delivered. we jsut need a schedule of sorts.
christmas is coming, as is my birthday, new years, john's birthday and isaiah's birthday. it's ample opportunity to feast on the wrong kinds of foods. we need to heighten our awareness.
speaking of christmas, it is not lost on me that despite this terribly f 'd up year we are amazingly blessed. Jesus was born. how groovalicious is that?
now, i'm off to go have my afternoon snack, ... half a cucumber and, say it with me, WATER!
gee, and i'm so stuffed from my lettuce and water lunch i'm not sure how i'll manage.
stromboli anyone?
k
(i know! i know! that was bad. bad kim, bad.)

you can try just regular flax seed and sprinkle it on your steel cut oatmeal. That's what I do. Also sprinkle it in food. It's way better than the oil. ick!
