a new perspective...
so today john took me to the movies and on the way back he said, "i'm sorry i was sick. that was rough". now, of course he does not need to apologize, but he routinely does. the difference is the tense. this time it was in the past tense. normally it's, "i'm sorry i'm sick". this time he spoke as though it's over. i waited a few hours and then asked him if it was intentional positive talk or if he's truly feeling it's over. it's intentional positive talk. to that i say, we'll take whatever we can get.
