(note: I wrote this forst paragraph on Monday but just got around to posting it).
John's legs have been doing something funky lately. It's not vasculitis related, maybe blood clot? It's strange. I haven't blogged about it b/c it's still kind of this mystery so I'm not sure what to say about it. It's just that we're noticing that things are 'different' than before. Ex: the swelling usually only goes up to his knee; fri, sat and sun it was up to his thigh. Another ex: usually his clot leg hurts when he's been up on it for a long time. Then, it started to hurt after not such a long time, then it started to hurt almost first thing in the am. Today, it actually hurt the minute he woke up and put his feet on the ground even though he'd been off them for about 10 hrs sleeping. That's new/strange/progressive. Another ex: usually it's only his clot leg that hurts, as of end of last week his non clot leg started hurting/swelling too. In fact, when he had pain this am as soon as he put his feet on the ground, it was BOTH feet. Even the fact that it's the 'feet' vs the legs is new. Usually it’s the leg that aches. Now it's the legs AND feet. It's all just this slowly creeping pain that seems to be more and more encompassing. He mentioned it to the doc last fri and the doc sort of poo-pooed it. Last time John said he had pain in his non-clot leg they did the ultra sound and found not only is all well but John has GREAT circulation in that leg. So of course now he's less likely to want to mention anything when he suspects something is up. So, things aren't 'bad' per say, ...it's all just sort of weird.
(I'm writing this part today, Wed).
Also, his legs have been (especially the clot one - left) becoming squishy toward the end of the day. Imagine what a wet dish rag underneath a piece of plastic wrap would feel like if you poked your finger into it; squishy. And it doesn't bounce back. It stays squished. This doesn't happen all the time but more and more often this past week.
Please keep praying. We need it.
Thanks,
k and family
