2.15.08
Well, John had some strange hives last night that we can't account for but other than that he seems to be doing well. He is to be discharged today and start the chemo. They will decrease his steroids from 80mg to 60. Biopsy results should be back in a week. Colonoscopy will be in 1-2 weeks. So, that's all good and I guess should be the end of this blog.
However, ...
I just want to express how frustrating everything is.
One doc says it's Wegener's, another says it's Henoch-Scholein.
One doc says the colonoscopy is not needed at all, another says it's so necessary he needs to have it today or tomorrow, and another says to wait 1-2 weeks.
First the doc says he'll be on the chemo for 6 weeks, then he says it's 3 months and acts like he never said 6 weeks even though we both heard him say it.
First the doc says he'll probably be in the hopsital over the weekend, then, with no warning at all, sends him home.
First the doc stresses no movement at all for a full 24 hours (which would be 1pm today) and then this morning tells him he can go ahead and get up and take a shower.
First the doc says he needs to stay away from people in general while on the chemo due to supressed immune system, then he says go about your life, eat out, go to work, whatever.
I could go on but you get my point.
Mary is still very very sick with vomiting and fever. Noah is finally better after three weeks and Isaiah is just now coming out of it but still has a hacking cough. I just don't understand how the doc is not concerned about that. Of course, ...he's leaving for vacation today.
Am I cynical?
John is doing well with the spots (vasculitis) and the swelling in the joints and the pain. There has been no blood in the urine to indicate a problem with the biopsy. And I am certainly happy to have him home. But wow this all just seems like too much too fast. Please pray that sending him home to a sick house, this soon after a biopsy and being so ill, does not come back to kick us in the butt. Thanks.
