the spot

john has a spot. it's on his eyelid. it's itching him terribly. the last time he scratched an itchy spot (on his leg) it left a huge blue scar.

the good news, his entire body is supposed to look that way after a wave of vasculitis and he only really has the one ugly spot so he is blessed in that.

the frustrating news, ... boy his eye itches. knowing if he scratches he could scar his face must be terribly irritating.

the bad news, his feet are now routinely going numb for almost whole days at a time, spots are appearing more frequently (though they are not staying long so that's good) and he says he just "doesn't feel good" anymore.

i'm pretty certain this is his work load negatively impacting his progress. we're still searching for reliable staff. he works so many shifts right now that if he were to get suddenly really ill again we'd lose the business, ... again. we're calling to place another help wanted ad on monday. in the meantime we've been contacted by a gentleman for john to speak in front of the rotary on wednesday to spread the word about the business and also he may be featured in the local paper. wow. such good news at such a bad time. we can hardly handle the clients we have. but who can turn away from this kind of randoom opportunity that's presented itself? so, we move on, praying that our pool of employees can grow as fast as our client base.

normally i'd say this is a 'good problem' to have. but nothing's been normal since jan 8, 2008. chronic illness changes everything.
