so i went and had a lymph drainage massage today. i am so glad i did it before john so he can know what to expect b/c i was blissfully ignorant and then SLAM, i learned what this toxin thing is all about...
so i know that the cells dumped toxins into my blood during the detox and then they ended up in places, ... like the lymph system. so, a lymph drainage massage is recommended to get it flowing out of there and moving toward the colon (i've heard it said that big poop = little hospitals, little poop = big hospitals). ok, so off to the massage therapist i go.
finding a masseuse trained in lymph drainage wa challenging, until i found her directly beneath my nose. 5 minutes from where i work and i actually already knew her. 30 minutes, $30, i can do it during lunch. perfect.
so she described how it would be a very gentle massage since the lymph system is so close to the surface of the skin. she was right, it was. it felt more like how a lover would touch you than a masseuse (not sexual, but kind and gentle). so gentle that i truly didn't think anything was happening. i thought the whole thing was kind of hokey. lovely. but hokey. ...until about an hour later.
woe baby.
she had told me to drink plenty of water afterward but that's all she said. so when i started feeling kind of loopey i was glad that i had made plans to leave work early. by two hours later i was feeling part drunk, part sick, part giddy, part sideways (i don't know how else to explain that part). i thought i was just hungry so by the time dinner came and went, and i was now feeling drained of every ounce of my energy, i realized it was more than just hunger. that's when i connected the dots. it was the massage.
it took me a full six hours to start to pull out of it. it zapped me of everything i had. i'm not feeling sick anymore, or loopey. but i am still exhausted. while she was massaging me i remember twice thinking 'hum. something's happening'. there was a definite tingling and sort of releasing feeling while she was working on my neck and under my arms. i didn't know how right i was. something was definately happening that's for sure. so, if ever you find yourself getting a lymph massage, don't say i never told ya.
from what i hear (i've since looked into it) after the whole thing is over and you get some sleep you feel very good afterwards. i'm hoping that's the case. i'll keep ya posted. john too, ... since his appt is next week =)
