think spring

so, all in one day i:
-saw blue sky and felt warm sunshine
-got the side of my face impaled by a bee
-heard the rumblings of a motorcyle in the distance
-saw a squirrel sunbathing
-listened to a song bird in my yard
-sent my kids out on a bike ride
-heard the roar of base music from someone's open car window
-saw geese heading north
-saw a person in shorts
-smelled a skunk (haha. i almost wrote 'smelt')

the only things i still need to make it officially spring is pussywillows on my mother's tree top, tulips peeking from the dirt, and a red breasted robin (which my daughter annually reminds me is actually orange breasted).

surely spring is just around the corner.
so i got to thinking about last year at this time. last year at this time john was at his abosolute worst but finally coming out of the hospitalizations. the doctors told us, 'you should begin to see signs of improvement in the spring'. we did not, but it was still a time of hope. this year is so different. he is improving in many ways and holding steady in many ways. i am thankful that he does not appear to be losing ground in any ways.
...it is still a time of hope.

let the spring begin.
