john told me today that the doc said at his naxt appt (in early sept), provided all is going well, he plans to take him off the steroids and off the blood thinners. that is HUGE.

the only thing left would be the insulin, which he's not super about adhering to anyway. the diabetes nurse told john to expect to have to monitor his glucose for 2-3 months after going off all steroids and he may need insulin now and then during that time. after that, whatever his glucose is doing is a result of his own body and not of the steroids; but apparently it takes about two months to get all the steroids out of the system so he needs to watch during that time. like i said, he's not super about checking it everyday. i think since more times than not during the past two months it hasn't been high enough to require insulin so he worries about it less. that's not great, but he's a big boy. he does have diabetes in his family, but i'm not his mama. i'll watch and pray and say something if it's really necessary; for now he's doing just fine.
