well, we got the 'yay' we were hoping for just 12 hours ago...all the tests done yesterday, including the brain scan, have come back clear.
phew.
yesterday was two months since all this started. and we still have a long haul ahead.
one of my favorite quotes:
"little by little does the trick" -abrahman lincoln
...and so it goes. i seem to live by that saying these days.
john's creepy brown bag antibiotic has been increased to three times per day instead of one. whatever it takes i guess. it seems to be working. his fever broke and so far has not returned. we think if he does not spike a fever again today he may be able to come hom tomorrow. we'll see.
in the meantime he's in a private room now and fever free with clear brain, blood and lung scans. he has not seen any blood in the stool for a few days and the blood in his urine seems to be fading significantly. the vasculitis spots seem to be holding, as his steroids were increased again. so, all in all, i'm tempted to call it a good day, though it is not even lunch time. is that tempting fate?
my concerns at this point is the amount of pain that the blood clot is causing john, and his sky high glucose. while he was on the IV blood thinner the pain in his leg was ok providing he didn't try to walk on it. now that he's off the IV med and on the oral med, his leg has started hurting even when he's not on it. we'll talk to the doc about that and his glucose the next time we see him.
prayer: it's powerful stuff.
